IN AWE OF THY WORD

 IN AWE OF THY WORD

“Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.” Psalm 119:161. The word of God is indeed a book of which we should all stand in awe. There has never been a book written that is as unique as the Bible. The Bible gives us knowledge and an understanding of God. In the Bible, we see the reality of God and the character of God. We see the beginning of everything and the nature of man. In the Bible, we have the knowledge of God’s love and care of us. The Bible presents a moral code for all of humanity. There is no book that can compare to the Bible. God’s word has inspired cultures since time began. There is no ethical principle that has been taught by civilizations that is not revealed in the Bible. The word of God has outlived every enemy that has ever stood in opposition to it. “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.” Psalm 119:160. I stand in awe of God’s word because of the blessings that this book presents to me. The word of God is a book of faith, a book of comfort, a book of blessing. The word of God tells me from whence I have come and where I am going. I stand in awe of God’s word because of the hope and the promise that has been spoken. In the word of God, there is a heavenly hope that awaits those who live by the divine principles that are taught in this book. “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of gospel.” Colossians 1:5. I stand in awe of God’s word because it is a book of revelation, a book of redemption, and a book of reconciliation. This book tells us of God’s careful plan for our life and future. God’s word informs us of how we can walk and please him and know him. The word of God is a book of history, a book of science, and a book of geography. I stand in awe of this word because of the remedy for the most vile of diseases and the conquest of the most vicious enemy that has ever been known. I stand in awe of God’s word because of the unchanging standard that is established within its pages. “Not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” I Peter 1:23. This word is a book of discovery, a book of wisdom, and a book of enduring quality.
