 GOD BUILT ALL THINGS

“For every house is builded by some man, but he that built all things is God.” Hebrews 3:4. A building demands a builder. Architecture demands an architect. Just as every house is built by a carpenter, so the universe has been built by God. The universe has design and order. Human beings are able to live upon the earth because God has designed the earth in such a manner to sustain human life. “For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:18. This Old Testament prophet had been informed by the Lord that the earth was the creation of the heavenly builder. God spoke and the world and all things within came into being. The earth is sustained by the word of the Lord. The earth operates in exact precision by the authority of the Lord. We are not present upon this earth because of happenstance or accident, but rather because the God of heaven had a divine plan. Within the universe, there is the mark of the Almighty God. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20. The seen explains the unseen, and the visible declares the invisible. The universe is the divine display of the eternal God. What we see explains what we cannot see except by faith. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1. Because the universe is, I believe in the God of the Bible. With a mighty word, the heavens were formed and the earth came to be. “And God said” is the thrust of Genesis chapter one. “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31. Man is without excuse for his sinfulness because God’s eternal power and Godhead are on constant display. Morning as it turns into night and spring as it turns into summer declares without controversy that God is, and that he has built all things. “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth dwelleth not in temples made with hands.” Acts 17:24.
