The Salvation That Was Prophesied

"Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow."  I Peter 1:10-11.  The prophets of old had told of the coming of Christ and the sufferings of the Savior.  Jesus' death was not by accident, but rather, was God's eternal plan.  The voice of the Old Testament prophets saw the salvation that would come into the world by God's divine grace.  The Spirit gave them the word which they were to speak.  God has spoken by His Holy Spirit.  We have the word of grace that was given by divine proclamation.  The news of the ages was the coming of Jesus for the salvation of all of humanity.  Jesus would suffer the death of the cross, but the glorious resurrection would deliver Him for the grave.  He would ascend to the heavenly abode from whence He had come and sit at God's right hand.  This was the glory that was to follow.  The prophetic word announced to the world of God's divine plan for the salvation of lost humanity.  In the suffering of Christ and the glory that followed, we have hope.
