They Named Him Jesus

The angel of the Lord told Joseph to take Mary "for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."  Matthew 1:20.  "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins."  Matthew 1:21.  Jesus was sent from the Father of heaven to be the savior of the world.  Through Jesus, sins would be forgiven.  His blood would be the cleansing agent to remove sin.  Jesus was a divine child with a heavenly mission.  That mission was to bring the lost back to God.  The blood of Jesus would not only take away sin, but would restore the lost with God.  Fellowship with the heavenly Father is established through Jesus.  Jesus lived His life in submission unto God willing to become the sacrificial lamb that would take away the sins of the world.  John 1:29.  His sacrifice at the cross has become our means of justification with God.   Sin separates and condemns, but Jesus takes away sin.  The sacrifice offered for salvation must be accepted.  God will only save the obedient.  Hebrews 5:9.  We obey Jesus by faith, repentance, confession, and baptism.  By obedience to these simple acts, Jesus saves us from sin.
